Line & Honey Art Prints
The creator of this beautiful artwork was recommended to me by an Instagram post by Ile La Wa - a gift shop in Walthamstow celebrating Black British makers. I’ve not visited the shop yet, but I’m hoping to get there next weekend.
Line & Honey is the artist who draws these elegant yet simple illustrations depicting black women in all their curvy, curly glory. As well as art prints, you can get the drawings on tote bags make-up pouches and purses. The ethos behind the art is as follows:
Line and Honey is a brand created out of a need to amp up the self-care in a busy, ambitious and fast-paced world. Focused on feeling visible and feeling well (within ourselves and our minds), all of the creativity that comes out of Line and Honey is done so with the intention of using art to be mindful and relaxing, focusing on the visibility and unapologetic attitude of women of colour.
I opted for the surprise sale. For just £4.00 you’re sent a print from the sale collection at random. The art arrived perfectly packaged with a few stickers thrown in. There was also a hand written note, which always gets a thumbs up from me.
I pretty shocked when I first saw the piece, but purely because I was expecting illustration only, without the photography element. However the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. And weirdly enough I had a space above the bed in my spare room that needed a print and this slotted in perfectly. I’m going for a country chic vibe in the spare room, lots of pale wood, wicker baskets and neutral/pastel tones - don’t ask me why!
I’ll be back to buy one of the black on white line drawings to fill one of the gaps in my hallway next month. There’s also a tote bag I’ve got my eye on that I’ll be gifting to a friend very soon.
