Ilé La Wà  is Yoruba for We Are Home and perfectly describes the homely, welcoming vibe of this East London pop-up shop. Run by the a talented duo - Dorcas Magbadelo of Dorcas Creates and  Chanelle Joseph of Studio Nelle - this shop was set up to celebrate, promote and sell the work of Black British creators.

Housed in a bang-on-trend warehouse style venue in the heart of Walthamstow, this shop is surrounded by other pop-ups including a plant shop, art shop and clothing store. Ile La Wa stocks brands that I recognized, brands I’ve recently bought from like Line and Honey as well as brands I’ve been stalking and coveting on Intagram – Wild and Seed Botanicals. The products are a mix of homeware, beauty products and stationary – all brilliantly giftable items.

I ended up buying a Mother’s Day Card and hanging plant hammock which I have no idea how to actually hang.... I’ll keep you posted on that.

Keep an eye on their Instagram page to find out about their latest events. They recently held a still-life drawing class, and before that hosted a classic board games evening. If you’re looking for something a little different to do one evening and fancy supporting a UK Black Owned, Female Owned business – then definitly check this out.

I’d also recommend going there hungry, as all of the pop-ups are built around a great café called Today Bread. You can grab a bite to eat, sip a coffee, have a natter and grab a fresh baked loaf to take home before you leave. Perfect Sunday out.

Find the shop at Central Parade, Hoe Street, Walthamstow, E17
