Ilé La Wà is Yoruba for We Are Home and perfectly describes the homely, welcoming vibe of this East London pop-up shop. Run by the a talented duo - Dorcas Magbadelo of Dorcas Creates and  Chanelle Joseph of Studio Nelle - this shop was set up to celebrate, promote and sell the work of Black British creators.

I’m not sure what made me pick up this book. The name Audre Lorde was familiar to me, yet her work was not, but when I saw this book and it’s intriguing cover I picked it up immediately. It was the last one. That was a sign. I held it close and sprinted to the checkout in a race against my conscious as I wasn’t supposed to be buying anything that day and had only just started reading another book. Here’s what I thought

Natural Nails

I came across Y.Wait on the UK Black Owned Businesses directory within the first few minutes of my search. As I scoped out the website I discovered that the salon was located in Walthamstow - a 15 min bus ride away and specialised in natural nails only (no extensions or acrylics) so I had to check it out.
